At the October 27th Board Meeting, Trustees passed a revised magnet admissions policy that modified the previous “sibling rule”. Key points:
- Top 30% of applicants chosen based on merit only
- Next 70% of available seats allocated by high school feeder pattern
- Magnet Montessoris (Harry Stone and Dealey) give preference to siblings after the top 30%
- TAG and all non-Montessori schools increase scores of siblings by 5 points, then allocate by feeder pattern.
Strong arguments were made by parents and teachers on both sides. The board worked hard to find the middle ground. Thank you, community, for your passion and involvement.
